Permaculture Workshop

Build a Rocket Oven

with Joel Meadows

12th, 13th & 14th January 2024

9.30am - 4.30pm

Rocket ovens are a super-efficient way to cook, using minimal wood scraps or small branches to heat an oven.
A rocket oven can be a valuable tool to increase the resilience and sustainability of your household.

About the course

Holmgren Design are very excited to be offering a Rocket Oven workshop with our friend, colleague, and alternative technology whizz, Joel Meadows.

In this hands-on 3-day workshop we will be building a rocket combustion barrel oven from scratch with basic workshop tools and techniques.

No experience is needed! Joel will guide us through the workings of rocket ovens – how they work, how to build one and how to use them.

The first two days will be creating the main part of the oven, and on the third day we will travel to a community site to set up the oven and make the base.

You will leave with the knowledge and skills to build an oven for yourself and then your friends (who will definitely want one when they see yours!)
